I am a former Drama and Dance teacher with over 13 years’ experience of teaching both subjects across Key stage 3, 4 and 5. I have delivered a variety of examination specifications at GCSE & A level, including the vocational suites. My area of interest lies in active learning techniques and how experiential learning can bolster a knowledge rich curriculum.
Throughout my teaching career I have held roles such as, Head of Department, Lead Practitioner and Second in Faculty. I have gained a wealth of experience in planning and implementing teaching and learning initiatives in an educational setting and held the role of ECF Lead at my most recent school, which consisted of guiding Early Careers Teachers through their two-year induction period. I have also mentored student teachers for a number of years prior to taking on my current role at the University of Bedfordshire.
I am currently Course Lead on the PGCSE Secondary Education Drama course and am Lead Mentor for the student teachers. Through these roles and I able to share my subject passion and teaching expertise, as well as provide the student teachers with key pedagogical knowledge and support them to develop their teaching practice and teacher identify.
